Description
Nothing says vintage Florida like a big-letter “Greetings from” postcard. This print was made from a 1940s linen postcard, a style tourists sent home by the thousands during the golden age of American road trips.
The giant red-topped letters of KEY WEST each hold their own little scene from the island. Look closely and you’ll find the highway stretching over the water with cars heading south, historic red-brick buildings, islanders at work, a shady tropical garden, and the Key West Lighthouse. Around them, “Greetings from Quaint” sits above a sailboat gliding past seagulls, a tall palm tree, and the proud tagline “Southernmost City in the U.S.” Bold red FLORIDA lettering finishes the design.
The frame makes this piece truly Key West. It was handmade from recycled lobster and stone crab trap wood from Key West, weathered silver-gray and still crusted with real barnacles from its time underwater. A genuine Florida FWC spiny lobster trap tag from the 2023–2024 season is mounted at the bottom. The back is hand-lettered “Key West, Florida,” “Cayo Hueso (Bone Key),” and “Conch Republic U.S.A.,” with the framer’s mark dated 2024.
